My Obsession With Color

I definitely have an obsession with color.
Since the weather hasn't been good and I am totally sleep deprived (those are my made up reasons) I sew blankets. Because I love blankets. And I love to snuggle my babies in handmade blankets. Especially Indie Lou because I think, maybe if it's sewn with love by my hands and I wrap it around her it will substitute for my arms.

So far this hasn't worked, but I will keep sewing blankets until one of them is successful in this.
P.s. my pictures are really crappy.

This is a playmat, so far it's the most useful thing I have made. It just stays there and houses diapers and wipes.

Recent Happenings

Greetings from stay at home land.
I am still alive. Mostly. Or walking dead. Either way, I am upright. Not showered, but upright. The Indie is on my lap, asleep. Therefore I am stuck on the computer for awhile until I am ready for her to cry again. For all you with newborns, I hope yours is less high maintenance than mine.

I shot a wedding last week up in Midway. Being away from home for 8 hours is really interesting when your a nursing mother. Let's just say pumping in the back of the car was interesting. My brother came with me as my second shooter and we had a good ol' time.
Isn't her pink ring gorgeous?

Lil' Lou
Again, only sleeping pictures. From all the pictures of her sleeping you'd think she slept a lot! SIIIIIKKKKKKE. This baby sleeps less than any baby that ever lived. That I am sure of.

This picture is for ASHLEY. So ATTENTION ASH. Ashley made Beck's initial blankey and it's basically a rag so she gave me another, and look he actually even has his fingers in the ribbons! (He does this to calm himself). I mean, he still prefers the original, but he will use the new one. So if Disneyland swallows up another blankey belonging to our kids, we will again have a backup. So thanks Ash!

When She Sleeps

The only good time to take pictures of Indie is when she is asleep. If she is awake and happy that means she is in my arms, and I can not hold a camera. If I put her down.. she is crying. Rarely she sleeps happily without being on me in some shape or form. Thus.. sleeping pictures. "Oh good the baby is not in my arms and not crying... I can take her picture!" Followed by her crying five minutes later when she realizes she isn't being held.

Needless to say, I am rarely very ready, wear little makeup and skip showering often because I can't bare the thought of doing it all while listening to hoarse screams.

And a special shout out to my best girl ALEXIS, it's her birthday so go wish her a happy day on her blog or facebook or through text. She deserves all the love and attention out there!

These bloomers are my favorite thing and pretty much all she will be wearing this summer. They are a really easy and cheap outfit :)
If my friend Talane is out there.. these are to show you, since we were both so intimidated by them for so long.

Monday Bloody Monday

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...

..do three kids.

So far, it's not looking so good.

This. Is. Hard.

So, for now, let's focus on the sweetness of some pictures, shall we? And the fact that they don't appear to be screamers, biters, who drag their runny poopy diapers around their ankles and laugh, whilst I have a baby on my boob. Bad, morning.. we'll leave it at that.

I saw this somewhere and loved it. Be you, FIND you, and be happy with that. I think this is harder and more rare than it should be. I see so many girls struggling to have confidence and be themselves, and in turn just come across trying too hard. Trying too hard to be perfect, to be different, to be admired, to be creative, to be liked. In this search to find ourselves are we just replications of other people who we want to be, or wish we were more like? Just be what you are, whatever it is, and own it.

Not saying I am not like this, you are preaching to the choir. But I think the first step is realizing that replication and facades that come across individualistic don't lead to this being happy with who you have found that you are.

Happy Days And Exciting News Mixed With Cabin Fever

Life is good, I get to look at these faces all day. And when you have total social isolation you take a lot of pictures.

Cabin fever has long since set in so we have to be creative.

"HELPERS" Reading to Indie.

Little features. Please don't grow.

This is the exciting news. As most of you well know, my brother, Kris, and I are close. And this is a photo taken from my driveway with a circle around HIS LOT. Yep, he is moving like 1,2,3,4 lots away. At the end of the street. BOOOYYYAAA. (Isn't that what cool people say?)

And everything is better with tiny feet present. (Even if they are PRICKED TO DEATH.)

Indie Lou

Well, meet my little Mango. Whom we named Indie Lou. And luckily she was the size of a mango and not a watermelon as anticipated. And she is a sweet, but feisty little one.

I started having contractions at about 1:30 AM and she was born at 3:40 AM on April 19, (sharing a birthday with my brother Kris by her own choice. She must already like him.) And it was very painful, but luckily when I got to the hospital I was only a 7 instead of 8 1/2 like Beckett. So it was pretty smooth. Except for the fact that the lady doing my epidural literally just rolled out of bed and got hit by a train. Ok, maybe not the train part, but it looked to be so. And my doctor seemed half asleep as well. Thus the perks of delivery in the wee hours of the morning.

AND THEN THERE WERE THREE.

And so my days are filled with sweet feet and sore boobs. And a whole new face to be infatuated with. All is well except for major sleep deprivation. But then again everything is easier than being pregnant. And I mean that. Those last few weeks were torture. Don't assume your baby will be two weeks early like the last! And luckily, Kara didn't beat me to it, or else I might have egged her house or something :)

And now I have three kids. (followed by evil laugh)

Posting Still Pregnant.

Two babies that were due after mine came. I will spare you my thoughts on still being pregnant, however, most of you know if you have talked to me..or watched me burst into tears or listened to my complaining. But in the mean time what have I been doing? Well making blankets of course! I am sort of a blanket freak. I believe it runs in my blood. My grandma loved blankets, my mom loves blankets, me and all my brothers and some of my cousins nussled our blankies (and maybe still do!). And now my kids go nowhere without their blankets. SO.. not being able to have too many blankets is a theory that runs in my blood :) I am not, however, near Jake's mom though. Although well on my way. It's kind of her fault though-for teaching me to sew and quilt and "helping" me make the plunge to buy my beloved Bernina.
Anyway.. on to the rest of the post.

Jen (my sister in law) had her SURPRISE baby that surprisingly to us all, was a girl! So I made Norah this.

My friend Kristen had hers last week. She got the remainder of my favorite lemon fabric that is a Joann's jem of mine. I can't love this fabric enough.

Here is Piper's bed quilt that matches the little Mango's (the stubborn thing inside of me that won't come out!)

And then I compiled all my remainder from the girl's blankets, plus the remainder from curtains I have made, pillows I have retired, and some other left over stuff and made this piecey mismatchy thing for me. THAT I LOVE.

And if this baby doesn't want to come out and lay on this buttery blanket-she is insane. I can't wait to make me one, which was the purpose of all the material I have been collecting for awhile, but desperate times call for desperate cutting.

So for the sanity of us all let's hope there are no more projects because that means that I had her, and all is right with the universe again. Until May, June, and July (yes July Lex, not August) rolls around and I am comforting you dear friends of mine who will be sitting in this seat I am in soon enough. Then the universe will have some recourse to do once again.
