I think often children deserve a lot more than we give them. Maybe I am biased concidering a lot of the things I had and didn't have when I was a child. Things that impact me to this day. I believe that kids deserve our time and attention. I think they deserve to have consistent lives with a parent. Consistency and order. Bedrooms and driveways, and caldasacs. A parent there to pick them up from school when it's raining, or not. I think they deserve to be fussed over and have tears shed when they leave to preschool or kindergarten. It's their right to be cared about at that level. They deserve to have parents who are paranoid and take them to the doctor over bug bites or whatever eles the parent is unsure of. They deserve ellaborate birthday parties, treats, and ice cream for no reason. Home cooked meals. They don't deserve to passed around and forced to go places they aren't comforable. They should be told they are loved and that they are good constantly because they are, even if they aren't. They shouldn't be put before work, before tasks, or before others. It's the one time in their lives they get to be put first. It's the foundation of their existence, their self esteem and self worth. I believe I am lucky to be surrounded by friends that are SUCH good moms and examples. That make huge deals out of what preschool, what their Halloween costume is going to be and how big their birthday parties are. Some people think it's silly, but I think they deserve it. I love seeing people blogs and seeing girls fuss about their kids. I think everyone wants to be loved and fussed over, especially children. Am I perfect at this? Basically. But one can always strive for more perfection :-) Joke

Wow, very profound! I love it!
I totally agree! Yet its something I can really improve in. Especially as a nanny. :) Thanks!
Love that I opened your blog tonight and saw this! I for sure needed it...Thanks Toni. You are an awesome momma. I learn so so much from watching you ladies interact with your babies every week.
I am so happy you are my best friend. I love ya lady! You are the best MOM ever! Thank you for always being a good example.
That is a great thought. Kids really deserve everything good, because in reality, we areonly borrowing them for a moment right! I love ya and you are such a good mom!
Very well said Toni! And your kiddos are very lucky to have such a great mama like you!
I agree with you. There are so many days that I go to bed thinking did I spend enough time with my kids today or did I fuss way to much about the house being clean and getting mad at them when they messed up what I just cleaned. I need to continue to strive to do better.
agreed. and i need to be better. i especially loved the part when you said they need to be told constantly that they are good, even when they aren't, because they are. so true.
